The purpose of the Barker Ridge Artist Mall is to make available to you
the artist, an affordable virtual store in which you can display and sell
your artwork without needing to know the ins and outs of web design.
You do the artwork - We do the work of presenting it on the web. The
following will give you a general picture of what it takes to be a store
owner in the Barker Ridge Artist Mall. For more specific information
see our Mall Store Fee Schedule and our Artist/Crafter's agreement.
What We Provide:
Become a member of the Barker Ridge Mall and we will provide you with
the following:
- a World wide - 24 hour per day multi-page web store.
- space in our catalog to sell your art work.
- mall advertising in major search engines.
- the ability to accept payment by check or credit card.
In General - What We Will Do For You:
The staff here at Barker Ridge Artist Mall will do the following for you:
- create your multi-page web store with your assistance of course.
- add your products to our catalog.
- regularly scheduled web page and catalog maintenance.
- monthly reports on your store activity.
- receive your orders.
- send you, your customer order information, payments and shipping
charges as soon as the customers check clears or credit card has
been processed. - make required WV sales tax payments.
In General - What you would do:
If you become a member of the Barker Ridge Artist Mall Co-Op you
would be expected to do the following:
- have your art/craft products juried by us.
- register your business in the state in which you live, if you have not
already done so. - create your very best art/craft items.
- take photographs of your items and give them identification
numbers. - help us in setting up your store by supplying the information and
photographs you'd like presented. - provide photographs, price suggestions and shipping charges
required for each item you wish included in our catalog. - provide a minimum of 10 items to be included in our catalog.
- define your return policy if different from the Barker Ridge
Artist Mall policy. - package and ship your item to your customer
How much will it cost?
If you've ever tried to rent a retail store in the local mall you found out
that it could be very costly. For example, a store in our local mall could
range between $2500 and $5000 per month just for rent. Then you'd
have heating, advertising, store furnishings, and employee costs, while
just reaching the customers that happen to drive into the Mall parking
lot and walk into your store. Or maybe you can sell your art in someone
else's store on consignment for a 35 - 50% consignment fee and have to
take the items to the store and drive there to check up on their sale or
non-sale every week.
Well, our goal is to have an affordable environment, where an
artist/craftsman can display his/her items, to anyone in the world, who
might be interested in looking at and purchasing them, with a minimum of
involvement on his/her part. Barker Ridge Mall is the place you can do
all that without needing a large upfront investment.
We are basically a consignment/drop ship mall. We do your advertising,
receive your orders, collect your payments, maintain your store. We
then buy the item from you at your price and send you, the customer
information, payment and shipping charges. You, the wholesaler, make,
pack and ship the item to the customer.
