Meet Foxy
Hello there, my names Foxy!
I'm a beautiful, soft and
fuzzy three year old
Shelty-Collie.  The first year
of my life was pretty bad.  I
was abused as a puppy.  I was
given away because my owner
no longer wanted me.
Thank God for that, because he would probably have killed me if I
stayed with him.

I was saved by a sweet young lady named Charleen.  I really liked her,
but she came on tough times and had to move home with her parents.
Her mom was ill and it soon became apparent I wouldn't be able to live
there any more.

Charleen put my picture on Pet Finder to try to find me a new home
where I'd be loved and cared for.  Just after Christmas 2005,
Charleen got a call from the Humane Society to tell her that a man
from Barker Ridge was interested in me.  He said he'd like to visit me
after the New Year.  Well, January 3, he and his wife travelled eighty
miles to come to see me.

I was just laying around the house when the door bell rang.  I barked
real loud and ran up stairs and hid in Charleen's room because a
stranger (a man - I hate men) was at the door.  I heard them talking
and soon Charleen was calling me to come down stairs.  Well, I wasn't
about to go down there with that stranger there.  Charleen came up
stairs for me and put my leash on.  Oh! Boy! I thought. She's going to
take me for a walk.  I love to go for walks. But all she wanted to do
was to take me down so this man could get a look at me.

I hide behind Charleen's legs the best I could.  But he talked nice and
soft to me and I kinda liked the sound of his voice, so I slowly came out
where he could pet me.  Charleen was surprised that I would let him do
that because I was always so afraid of men.  Then his wife talked to
me.  She was real nice, too.

After a while, Charleen gave the man the end of my leash.  OK! I
thought, he's going to take me for a walk.  I looked around.  Wait a
minute I thought, his wife has my blanket and my water and food bowl.

We went outside, but we weren't going for a walk!  He picked me up
and put me in his van.  His wife put my things in the back, got in and
away we went.  That's the last time I saw Charleen.  I was sad.

We drove for hours till we finally stopped on top of Barker Ridge.
"We're home!", the man said.  It was almost dark when he left me out
of the van and I saw my new home for the first time.  This is the first
time I was ever on a ridge.  Where are all the cars?  I lived in town,
there were always cars.

I sadly went in the house.  The man and his wife followed with my
blanket and food bowl.  I was shaking with nervousness. The man's wife
set up my water and food bowl in the kitchen and then took me and my
blanket into the bed room where she made me a bed at the foot of their
bed. I liked it and laid down and went to sleep.  I woke up the next
morning hoping it had all been a dream.

It wasn't a dream, there was that man again and he had my leash.  He
wants to take me for a walk already this morning.  Thus started my new
life on Barker Ridge.  I've been here seven months now, My man and I
have walked over 185 miles since I moved here and I LOVE it! I really
like my man Don and my woman Joy, they are so kind to me and have
such a wonderful place on Barker Ridge for me to roam. I hope I never
have to move again.  Read my travels with Foxy stories to keep up with
me & Don & Joy!
