A special meeting of the Church Council was held after the
regular service on September 23, 2007 to approve or
disapprove a motion made by the Christ Church United
Methodist Financial Committee which recommended giving
Pastor Doug a $2,000 cost of living raise for the
2007/2008 fisical year. The Vote was taken and the
measure was approved with no decenting votes.
Pastor Doug also brought up a question he wishes the
membership to pray about. It concerned a request from a
local pastor in which he asked, if we would consider allowing
his congregation to use our church for their ministry during
the winter months, since they were currently meeting in an
outside pavilion. They would be willing to rent the facilities
for an alloted amount of time. Meetings would be held with
his members to work out the particulars. Please pray about
this and give us your input.
Hildegard S. Izbicki, 87, died on August 31, 2007 at the
home of her daughter and son-in-law Gudrun and Camden
Brown of Sutton, from Alzheimers disease. She is also
survived by her daughter and son-in-law Elke and David
Seitel of SanDiego, California, 5 grandchildren, 8 great
grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.
The body has been cremated and a memorial service will be
held at Christ Church United Methodist on October 27th at
11:00 AM. All are invited to attend.
We give back to you, O God, those whom you gave to us.
You did not lose them when you gave them to us and
we do not lose them by their return to you.
Your dear Son has taught us that life is eternal and
love cannot die, so death is only a horizon, and
a horizon is only the limit of our sight.
Open our eyes to see more clearly and draw us close to you
that we may know that we are nearer to our loved ones,
who are with you.
You have told us that you are preparing a place for us:
prepare us, that where you are we may be always,
O dear Lord of Life and Death.
