Christ Church United Methodist Sutton WV - Volume 3 Issue 3 February 2008

Progressive Dinners have been a tradition at Christ Church for over
25 tears. While the frequency and locations have changed, the
basic format has remained the same. Since we have so many new
people, it seems that the new year would be a good time to review
what on involves.
Each time, we need 3 host families, one each for salad, main dish,
and dessert. The host family is responsible for drinks, and
organizing their course. At the December event, the dessert also
includes a Yankee Swap.
All others who participate are responsible for calling one or more of
the hosts and asking what they can bring. This is very important!
By talking together, the 3 hosts can get an idea of how many to
expect. This way, they know how much paper products, drinks,
etc., they need to get.
Recently, even our veteran participants have forgotten this
important part. Our people are generous and there is always
enough food, but, please, be a good guest and let a host know that
you plan to attend the Progressive Dinner.

O Lord of all worlds, we bless your name for all those who have
entered into their rest, and reached the promised land where you
are seen face to face. Give us grace to follow in their footsteps,
as they followed in the footsteps of your holy Son. Keep alive in us
the memory of those dear to ourselves whom you have called to
yourself; and grant that every remembrance which turns our
hearts from things seen to things unseen may lead us always
upwards to you, untill we come to our eternal rest; through Jesus
Christ our Lord .
