It has been a very busy fall for the United Methodist Women of Christ Church. New officers
began the new term in October. They are: Ruth Mooney, President; Alma Flint, Vice
President; Lillie Robinson, Treasurer; and Joy Fritz, Secretary. Each year members make a
commitment to financially support UMW's local, national and global missions. After a special
"Pledge to Mission" program in October, the women present completed  the
Membership/Pledge Card.  New members are welcomed year-round.
*In early October, announcements were made, sharing information about the Shoe Box
Ministries to the congregation. Some of the shoe boxes were gift-wrapped by the youth.
Twenty-one families donated these gifts to needy children around the globe through the
Operation Christmas Child project of Samaritan's Purse, Inc. The UMW appreciated all those
who contributed to this project.
*The Annual West Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Women was held October
26th and 27th. Lillie Robinson and Ruth Mooney represented our local unit by helping at the
registration table at the meeting held in Buckhannon (Chapel Hill United Methodist Church).
On Saturday, October 27th, the Christ Church UMW unit was privileged to provide and serve
a luncheon after the memorial service of Grudren Brown's mother.
*November has also been an active month. The UMW unit and the Choir ventured together
with a spaghetti Lunch on November first. The event was very successful and business
people are urging us to offer it again soon.
*On November 10th, Joy Fritz, Lillie Robinson, and Ruth Mooney traveled to St. Matthews
United Methodist Church in Weston to attend Officers Training and the "Day Apart"
ceremony conducted by the Wesleyan District officers. The lovely ceremony was a tribute to
the nearly 50 UMW members in the Wesleyan District who passed away this year. A flower
was presented to the unit who lost one or more members. The flower was a symbol of her
memory. Christ Church UMW lost two precious ladies: Ella Lou Delp and Donna Rader.
Those two flowers were placed on our church's alter during Sunday worship service. The
officers gave a  brief prayer "We give thanks for those no longer with us, whose gifts have
enriched our lives. We remember them with gratitude and affection. Gloy to GOD! Amen.

At the November 12th monthly meeting, Ruth Atkins gave an interesting World Thank
program. Every year the community of United Methodist Women gather to give thanks to
God. We are blessed to be in world-wide mission partnerships through our gifts to the world
Thank Offering. We pray for women in ministry outside the boundaries of the United States
and use the offering to strengthen the connection with our sisters.
