            Three Cross Drama
The first annual Three Cross Drama was held in Flatwoods on
April 10, 2009.  Three crosses representing the crosses of
Christ's Crucifixion were erected in the open grassy field next to
Kentucky Fried Chicken in Flatwoods.  Rusty Ware was the
volunteer who spent the whole 6 hour time period on the cross.
He said he didn't know how he could do it since he was afraid of
heights. Many local and out of town visitors stopped to take
pictures and to spend some time contemplating the meaning of
Easter.  Turnout was excellent being this was the first year of
the Drama.

    From the Mouths of Babes

A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten
Commandments with her five and six year olds.

After explaining the commandment to 'honor' thy Father and thy
Mother, she asked, 'Is there a commandment that teaches us
how to treat our brothers and sisters?'

Without missing a beat one little boy (the oldest of a family)
answered, 'Thou shall not kill.'
                    Environmental Savvy
While driving in Pennsylvania , a family caught up to an Amish carriage. The
owner of the carriage obviously had a sense of humor, because attached to the
back of the carriage was a hand printed sign... "Energy efficient vehicle: Runs on
oats and grass. Caution: Do not step in exhaust."

A Trip to the Clay Center
The 1st and 2nd grade Sunday school class went on a fieldtrip.  During the
school spring break Covington and Treighton Hacker with their teacher Beth
Atkins, sister Rylan, and grandmother Rene Wade spent the day in Charleston at
the Clay Center. They were there when the doors opened at 10:00 and didn*t
leave until 2:00.  There were several educational activities as well as fun things
to do.
They started in the Health Royale section where they played a game like
Hollywood Squares.  Then they went to Milton Gardners Earth City and played in
water, scooping sand, building dams, splashing and getting just a little wet.  Then
they attended a show in the Electric Sky Theater about the history of rockets and
how to find constellations in the night sky.  The next stop was the art gallery with
a special exhibit of costumes from TV and movies such as Star Wars,
Ghostbuster, and Wizard of Oz. After a quick lunch they went to the Gizmo Factory
where there were many activities involving physical science.  The bubble
machine was probably their favorite.
The last stop was back in Earth City at a science demonstration where
Covington got to help make a water filtration system.  Everyone had a great time.
Covington and Treighton would love to have other students in their Sunday
school class.  We are planning a trip to a water park this summer.
